The late 40s coming at ya!!! This is going to be a big moment for DZT...a game changer...

DZT was enjoying great success in the late 40s. Major competition like Tom and Jerry ended, while Disney was losing power in the short cartoon category. Only WB and DZT remained as heavy hitters.

After 1945, Dan-Zigg and T left the Air Force and took on all sorts of weird jobs. "Big 'Ole Band of Mine" (1946), featuring Dan-Zigg and T becoming members of a classic 1940s big band. "Tuskegee or Bust" (1947), where T wants to go meet The Tuskegee Airmen, and Dan-Zigg will stop at nothing to get the boy his wish. A debuting character who became the prototype for future character TeVaughn also debuted in a cartoon called "Sky High" (1948), where Dan-Zigg and T harass a young boy fixing planes.

Chip, meanwhile, partook in classics such as "Chocolate Chip" (1946), where good 'ole Chip is trusted with baking cookies, and nothing seems to go right int he kitchen; "The Tooth Will Set Me Free" (1948), where Chip becomes a dentist; "Taming the Wild" (1947), the second encounter between Ki and Chip. The two became a duo of sorts, with Chip as the hunter and Ki as the kappa who outsmarts him. A running gag between these two happens whenever Chip believes that Ki is a rabbit, and the kappa has to correct him.

Chip: I bet you'd taste nice as rabbit stew!!!

Ki: I bet I would...yeah yeah...y'know, if only I wasn't a KAPPA!!!

*Ki proceeds to twist Chip's barrel towards his face and makes the gremlin pull the trigger*

T, Chip, and DZ also teamed up for one more cartoon in 1947, called "Where's My Mummy?", where the trio explore a pyramid, cross through several traps, and find themselves lost in a tomb.

During this time, T's behavior became more rash and bold, not always depending on DZ for a situation, a farcry from his early days with Dan-Zigg. The DZT duo of Stevens and Zigg then announced in 1948 that "Aye Caramba!" (1948) would be the last Dan-Zigg/T Cartoon. The cartoon depicts D & T finding a family of migrant workers and T falling in love with one named Kenna. The cartoon showed the plight of the migrant workers in the country and tried to call for change. The workers were near the home of T, and Dan-Zigg tried his best to get the two together. In the end, Dan-Zigg told T that it was best that T stayed there while he went out into the world and explored. Dan-Zigg and T had a tearfelt goodbye as they parted ways.

The short won an Oscar for best Animated Short, and would go on to be immortalized in The Library of Congress. T and Dan-Zigg were no longer partners in crime, and T would develop his own adventures while Dan-Zigg continued his. Zigg & Stevens commented that they were having hard times making more adventures for the duo, so they split them up and went on from there. When asked if D & T would team back up, the creators replied, "I'm sure. Dan-Zigg and T can't be apart for long."

The teary heartfelt goodbye leads us into The 50s and even MORE changes to the Animation world, starting with a classic UPA cartoon that revolutionized the cartoon standards of its day. DZT had to keep up, so as to stay relevant.

Yeah, D & T broke up, but the adventures keep on rolling for DZT Studios!
